Armpit odor is the most irritating form of body odor. Armpit odor is the unpleasant smell that is connected to stale perspiration under the arms. The perspiration does not stink but when it gets exposed to the atmosphere for sometime the active bacteria rapidly get multiplied. The bacterial crash of proteins into acids through this procedure really generates the odor. Armpit Odor problem can be cured by medical treatments as well as home remedies. In the following article, there is natural treatment for armpit odor removal.

Sweat glands are liable for perspiration and a normal person has more than 4 million sweat glands in the body. The two major sweat glands are Eccrine Glands and Apocrine Glands. The Eccrine Glands have protein and fatty acids and they generate a milky liquid from the hair follicles. And the Apocrine Glands causes most of the perspiration or sweat. This sweat is chiefly a mixture of water, small amount of potassium and high concentrations of chloride and sodium. After exceeding a relaxed temperature, this sweat is necessary to cool off the body through evaporation. The sweat produced by the eccrine glands is odorless but the sweat secreted by the apocrine gland becomes the source of armpit odor.

Armpit Odor Natural treatment

Alcohol/witch hazel:
Wipe underarms with alcohol or witch hazel instead of a deodorant, it can help to get rid of underarm odor.

Turnip juice:
To decrease underarm odor sometimes for as long as 10 hours, turnip juice is another effective way. Grate a turnip and squeeze the juice through cheesecloth to have two teaspoonfuls. Wash the underarms first and vigorously rub one teaspoonful of turnip juice under each one.

Wheat grass:
Take 500 mg of wheat grass daily on an empty stomach and wash it down with a glass of water. The chlorophyll will dramatically reduce underarm odor.

Lime Juice:
Split the lime and rub each half on the armpits. The underarm skin lightens a bit after few days of this treatment because of citric acid. Allow the underarms air dry after the lime is rubbed. Stay away from this treatment, if there is any cut.

Baking soda:
Apply baking soda to dry underarms. It will kill bacteria and help to soak up perspiration. Cornstarch can also be used instead of it or mix it with the baking soda to form an effective combination.

White vinegar:
Soak some cotton ball in the vinegar and apply to the underarms. The vinegary smell will be gone within minutes and you will be odor-free all day.

Radish and Glycerin:
Extract the juice of around two dozen radishes; mix it with ¼ teaspoon of glycerin and use as an underarm deodorant.

Alum:
Alum is a very effectual armpit odor treatment. After drying from a bath or shower, rub Alum crystal directly into armpits. Be careful while applying Alum as it can have uneven edges and can irritate the skin.

Apple cider vinegar:
Use Apple cider vinegar instead of a deodorant in the underarm because it decreases the pH of the skin and odor-causing bacteria cannot stay alive in areas of the skin with low pH.

Sage herb:
Drinking a cup of sage herb tea daily helps in reducing sweat gland activity. Mix 1½ teaspoons of dried sage or two tea bags in one cup of water steep for 10 minutes and drink in small doses throughout the day.

Baby powder and baby wipes:
Daily use baby powder and baby wipes in the areas that display heavy perspiration. It also works but the results may be temporary.

Parsley alfalfa:
Parsley alfalfa and other leafy greens should be included in the diet as they can really help in defusing body odor owing to the deodorizing effect of the chlorophyll present in these leaves.

Rosemary oil:
Dilute 8-10 drops of rosemary oil in an ounce of water; you can use the mixture as a natural deodorant.

Essential oil:
Dilute two drops of essential oil in an ounce of water and apply to the underarms.
