Difference between white sugar and raw sugar:
When raw sugar is first produced from sugar cane it comes out looking a bit brown, a distinctive color due to the presence of molasses. For the formation of white sugar, the raw sugar is bleached to take away the brown color of the sugar. Brown sugar is also produced from white sugar by adding back the molasses, about one teaspoon per cup of sugar.
