Pie crust recipe is delicious and it has been used for years. Pie crust recipe is loved by all persons. Pie crust is enough tender to bite easily. It is also flaky; its distinct layers of dough are clearly visible.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Crisco vegetable shortening, plain or butter-flavored
  • 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoon ice water
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher or coarse salt

Method

Take a bowl, put the flour in it. Add salt and mix it. Now take vegetable shortening, pour it into the flour and mix it properly till it resembles the texture of tiny split peas with a pastry cutter avoid using your hands for mix it due to your hand’s heat will melt the shortening and for that pie crust becomes heavy, not light and flaky. If the mixture is of right texture then add ice water and with a fork combine it. Do not add more water in it and gather the dough into a ball quickly and flatten it into a 4 inch wide disc and wrap it in plastic. For 30 minutes refrigerate it. After removing it from refrigerator, let it stand until dough is malleable. Now take a lightly floured surface and a floured rolling pin, roll the dough disc on floured surface with the help of floured rolling pin until it become 12 inch circle. For transfer the dough, roll it around the rolling pin carefully. Take an ungreased 9 inch regular or deep dish pie plate. Now left and unroll dough in the center of pie plate. Trim it if necessary, but not so much. Fold the edges under, turning the pan and pressing the edge down with a fork to seal the edge and give it a nice pattern.
