Importance of foods that we eat daily for vitamin and mineral is known by all of us but scientists found hundreds of substances in food that have healing and ailment prevention properties. Healing foods helps in curing diseases such as acidity, high blood sugar, arthritis, jaundice, piles, teeth & gum problems, etc. Healing foods also help to boost immune system to fight against illness and injury. Fruits and vegetables contain “phytochemicals” along with protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. Phytochemicals contain properties that can prevent and heal ailments. Hundreds of different phytochemicals are there in the foods. Antioxidants are the most identified phytochemicals which defend cells from damage by toxic substances and free radicals. Many common diseases risk are decreased as antioxidants protect the body from oxidation. Healing foods should be eaten uncooked when possible.

Garlic is one of the most famous foods that promote healing. Garlic has anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-bacterial properties. Garlic also contains a compound called allicin which becomes more powerful while fresh garlic is chopped or crushed so it has strong smell. Garlic boosts immune system and helps to maintain good health. Arthritis, asthma, cancer, cold & cough, ringworm, dysentry, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, teeth & gum problems are cured with the help of garlic.


Ginger is famous in traditional Chinese medicine. Ginger contains anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. For indigestion and flatulence it is used in home remedies.
